I'm not able to comment from my own experience on the effect of general anaesthetic. However, there do seem  to be anomalies - some NDE or OBE accounts are anaesthetic- related, are they not?

Yes, plenty. As usual the differing details of such accounts make it very difficult to pinpoint the ‘thing’ that caused the consciousness to ‘vacate the property’. 

I’m physically half way there so in theory it should be relatively easy to go out of body! 

Must recommence my meditating.

I kinda came to this conclusion after my own thread about consciousness and anaesthesia, but I don't think the materialist model of consciousness is the best explanation of what happens while under it. In my mind, if consciousness apparently leaves the body rather then disappears during other unconscious states as suggested by NDEs, OBEs, etc etc, then why not during anaesthesia? I'm under the impression it just isn't in the cards for some people to remember their consciousness in the period it left, for whatever reason.

But isn't that a fallacy? Scientificly spoken, we do not even know if consciousness really leaves the body. Until that is proven, if it ever can be, all other theories are just speculation I would say.

And if it leaves the body, I guess what we "experience" is some sort of time leap. So for our consciousness the time under anaesthesia maybe just does not happen.

Sure, if there wasn't credible phenomenon that suggests that it does to the people researching it. That's why a lot of us are here. It was really no reason to give it any special thought over the materialist interpretation, we wouldn't bother
