Our beloved friend Doug has passed on

Thanks again, Ian. I'll be cheerful, at least, and will try to be so until the end. [Image: smile.png] And you must try to be also, no matter what happens to me. From time to time, just mentally surround me with heaven's light, and I'll do the same for you. Both here, and after I reach the other side.

That last one sort of expresses how much of an inspiring friend he was (is).

Utterly wonderful. Thank you for sharing this, Ian. Felt the light simply by reading the words.

Really very touching comments here about someone who seemed to be a really lovely, beautiful human being.

I hardly knew or communicated with Doug at all, though he would occassionally "like" my posts, and I his.....that was the full extent of our "entanglement" in this physical reality.

I wasn't going to comment here in this thread......but I now almost feel compelled to.

I woke up this morning with hypnapompic imagery in my mind, and all I remember seeing, very clearly, was Doug's username on a screen!!! What was that all about?! I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean or signify anything, but it was surprising nonetheless.....as truly delightful as Doug seemed to me, our interactions were minimal if at all, and I knew very little about him on a personal level. It appears even that minimal interaction made some significant impact on my subconsciousness.

Wherever you are Doug, peace & love to you my friend....it is clear you will not be forgotten by the readers of this forum!!

Thanks for sharing that manjit!
I wasn't going to say anything, but I had a very similar experience to Manjit the other night. My dreams were woven through with words Doug and Trancestate. I thought it was weird, and at the time, I really thought Doug was reaching out. It wasn't like this thread was new, it's been around a while, so I really couldn't explain why just the other night "Doug" was in my dreams.

Some or all members might have noticed that there is now a memorial to Doug on the forum's index page. Thanks for this memorial go to:
  • tim for the original idea [of a memorial of this type], suggestions [of a specific symbol which turned out to be unworkable], and the final wording.
  • Max[_B] for the design [and creation] of the [specific image of the] symbol [that we used] and the placement and styling of the text.
  • Ian for coordination, suggestions [in particular of this Celtic heart as a symbol], and discussion [of options].
  • Typoz for suggestions, discussion [of options], and image enhancement.

A man like Doug is hard to find in this day and age of armchair warfare. Someone wise and who thoroughly thought out every thing he said. He supported me by showing he was eager to hear what I had to say on here, and anybody else for that matter. Not an ounce of malice in his body.

This summer I've been so busy doing other things that besides a trip to the forum every week or two, I haven't been doing much. So I've obviously missed his passing by a few months now, but better late than never.

Godspeed, Doug my man...
