I liked this video of Suzanne Giesemann's for a couple of reasons.
First, she addresses the topic of what spirits "do" in the non-physical. Apparently it's people's most requested question (it's usually the one I'm most curious about - if anything is possible, and there is no "time", what do you "do"?) and the one mediums usually don't address I find as well.
Second, it addresses in part the contrast in reports through different sources about the non-physical. I find as well that when you read about or listen to readings from mediums, you are struck by the frequent banality of what's reported. For example, spirits are often reporting continuing activities they weren't able to continue or do here - a child riding a bike, the simplest things. This often contrasts with the frequently more extraordinary reports by NDErs.
I won't pretend the following video explains all of those differences. Nor does it address the question of whether we exist as both a greater soul and an individual spirit (if that is a thing), individuality vs. multiplicity, etc., that we've discussed here at length.
But she does explain how her guides have given her information as to what spirits engage in (banal enjoyment vs. more serious, "spiritual" endeavors) according to each spirit's evolution. That's not a new idea, you can find variants of it in older mediumistic writings. But it is a contemporary one, and in this video she gives evidential evidence from her own readings of examples of these different activities, and why the discarnate is choosing what they are.
(Again, this doesn't address whether that "spirit" is only a part of larger "soul" that might contain parallel existences in different dimensions.)
The relevant section starts at around 7:47.

Thanks for the post, Ian. I am yet to watch this one but I shall because it is of interest to me too.
Mostly I'll be interested (as always) in comparing her take with that of other material I have viewed or read. The Seth material has a lot to say about "life in the afterlife" and I have been able to compare those descriptions with other sources such as Jurgen Ziewe, William Buhlman. etc. It never fails to impress me how similar these accounts are, especially since the experience is subjectively created by each of us, according to all of those sources.
I do not make any clear distinction between mind and God. God is what mind becomes when it has passed beyond the scale of our comprehension.

I'm looking forward to your thoughts.
One question that rises for me is when mediums come through with a child - like some of Suzanne's examples here, for example a little girl who just eats and drinks pizza and hot chocolate all the time because she loves it.
Suzanne's experience or communication with the spirits also states that we create our own reality. (E.g. the man who loved golf and lost a leg, and now creates a golf course to play "every day"*).
How do we reconcile that with the greater soul that person is? For example NDErs meet relatives looking like young to middle-age adults rather than seniors. Is that little girl always going to stay a little girl? Or this just a point in "time" that is captured for the benefit of the sitter?
I have a few Seth books purchased because of you from quite a few years ago that I haven't got to, so I'll probably give those a read sooner rather than later.
*(Even those words "every day" puzzle me - are there "days" in that timeless present that is the non-physical? Or are there only days because the spirit creates that perception, or is a part of a collective where the reality construct still exists?)

Ok, still haven't got around to watching the video in your OP but I will.
I can comment on your question though. We are not limited by human age or years so we can appear in whatever guise we choose. According to what I have read, most choose their earthly prime - somewhere around mid-20s to mid-30s. Some prefer the older-wiser look, hence the Gandalf sterotype. But for recently passed children, they are apparently given the opportunity to complete their childhood years and grow into adulthood as that personality. At some point they will start to remember past lives and the bigger picture of being a soul, reincarnating multiple times.
Human form is not obligatory though and I have read accounts of meeting formless beings or "blobs" of light. Again, we are consciousness taking form (or not) and sometimes that form is taken on for the benefit of the beholder.

That's interesting the bit about recently passed children, I'd never heard that.
Just started watching this and enjoying the first few minutes. I have to comment on one thing early on and that is to reiterate the similarities to the Seth Material. I've clipped a small section of the video when she is talking about "experimenting with all the ways we can choose to react to things" which is exactly what Seth calls "probabilities" and is the main thrust of his teaching throughout the books.

Kam, are you watching the video in the OP because the clip is from one of her interviews on the Next Level Soul podcast?
But thanks anyways for your post! (And that's cool, I never used the clip tool.)

Apologies, I saw her face in the OP and assumed it was the same video I had bookmarked from the NLS podcast channel. So yes, I watched the wrong video. I can comment on my general impressions however.
I found her to be sincere and apparently genuine. There’s nothing new in what she is saying but, as I said earlier, that’s reassuring because the truth should be consistent rather than having different “truths” competing. I did follow a link to one of her web sites and was somewhat dismayed to see the level of commercialism pushing her “products” which amount to her selling her message through online courses. I am never comfortable with such blatant merchandising but I know that is the way Americans see the world.

Regarding the commercialism, I share your feelings, or let's say I have ambivalent feelings towards it as well. At the same time, there's an argument to be made that these people deserve to get paid for their "jobs". I don't think there's a single guest on shows like the Next Level Soul Podcast that doesn't have a website that promote products. Mediums advertise readings or online group meetings (or shows if they do that), other channeler types offer courses (often videos or audio to download), which are frequently expensive. At the same time, they put effort into those, and it's probably what they "do", so they need to make a living, and we live in an expensive world. But yes it makes part of these services available to the middle class, or higher middle class only.
At the same time someone like Suzanne offers free stuff on her website in her addition to her "free" videos on youtube as well, and I checked out one of her courses and it wasn't that expensive compared to some others. I resonated with a channeler on that same show (and others), checked out her website, and she offered different level courses. The first one (and you need certain prerequisites to get to the higher ones) was $1200 !!! That's a lot more than a couple of hundred bucks. In a case like that, I'll stick with buying the book perhaps and fumbling along with my own meditations!

Sure. This is something I've always had a problem with and it stems from my somewhat anti-capitalist early years. I remember, as a child, being appalled that my favourite TV shows were being interrupted by adverts so, whenever possible, I preferred to watch the ad-free BBC. We didn't have money to spare so tempting us with luxuries we could never afford left a lifelong distaste for commercialism. In my neighbourhood there was one car owner (he was the town's only taxi driver) and two with telephones.
But you are right. I had friends in a discussion group back in England who were in the psychic "business" and had to advertise their talents and they were, by and large, lovely people. Still, I do reserve a n aversion to these "courses" which purport to teach things that, IMHO, can be learned from numerous and inexpensive sources if one is prepared to look. It reminds me of a course I was once offered which promised to teach a memory technique that would guarantee high marks in exams. Out of interest, I looked in the local bookstore and found, for the price of a cheap paperback, a book teaching the very same technique. The course (on audio cassette) was the equivalent of hundreds of dollars.
I'd be interested to learn what Suzanne offers in her courses which is over and above the freely available information she volunteers in interviews or YouTube videos. Is she holding back on the "good stuff"? Does she leave all that out of her books?
