Steve, your liking of the posts in question is just further validation of my perspective.  You liked posts where I expressed my challenge of being convinced of something without evidence.  I would have expected you to "like" that.  Still binary.

Further, I do not lump all skeptics under one umbrella.  Its one thing to be skeptical.  Its another entirely to presuppose science can/does/will answer all questions.

Might want to check that giant ego at the door Linda.  I don't need an "out" as there isn't a right or wrong here.  We are talking about perceptions of internet avatars based on what the human (presumably) behind it wrote.  Just go ahead and be mean if the nice thing is just too taxing. Smile

But you didn't bother reading what he says, and instead made up some BS about his perspective which allows you to insult him instead of addressing what he says. And of course, to fill in another square in the Bingo card, you went with the vague "posting history" reference. I'm going to take a stab at this and guess that you have paid attention to or read his posting history with the same care that you that you showed in this thread - i.e. not at all.

The reference you gave of one of Steve's post is just that: one post (Oh, and shoulder shrug's generally are connoted as dismissive).  His posting history (of which I have read many, many posts) is generally not very open to the notion that science may not be the sole source of knowledge, wisdom, or insight.  Its quite the contrary to my view.  (Again, that nagging challenge for you here in that I am expressing my perception of Steve.)

Its also worth noting that I am likely not alone in this perspective on Steve.  Sure, the community here may be comprised of a bunch of intellectually-stunted dreamers or socially inept souls.  Or, perhaps, mine is a reasonable viewpoint of Steve the psiencequest avatar.

Again, I'll leave it to the community to opine.

I would regard substituting prejudice for factual knowledge as a "wrong", though.

Yes. And whether that perception is based on what the human actually writes or whether it is based on prejudice. When Steve asked "what have I dismissed", I suspect that he was asking, "what have I said I dismissed" not "what do your prejudices tell you your straw skeptic dismisses?"

I was trying to be nice because it is my nature to be nice. Mean is taxing, although it becomes easier when constantly faced with this kind of BS.

Yes, I referenced one post. One which happened to be relevant to this discussion. You, however, haven't referenced any posts of Steve's. You've just fallen back on that old standby, "my perception". You have not given any indication that "your perception" doesn't consist solely of painting all skeptics with a broad brush of prejudice.

Of course you're not alone. This is a proponent echo-chamber, after all.
