But I will say, when he came for the family to murder everyone, I beat him into a pulp, broke his nose and more, as a child, because his mental health brain thought he was some kind of bad ass, when in fact he is not.

Just to be clear, I don't have a problem with this sort of self-defence. If you and/or your family are physically threatened, regardless of the state of mind of the aggressor, you have a right to defend yourself, and to disincentivise future aggression.
