The Parapsychological Association(PA) Book Award recognizes books in the field of parapsychology that make significant contributions to science and to the cultural conversation about the implications of parapsychology. New (no more than two years in print) and in-press books published in English, French, German, Spanish or Portuguese (including translations) are eligible for the award.

The four books for 2025 are:

Le Grand Manuel de Parapsychologie Scientifique

Committee members acknowledged the significance of this work in advancing parapsychology within the French-speaking world. The editors and contributors are recognized figures in the field, and the book’s publication by a respected academic press ensures wide accessibility and academic legitimacy. The Self Does Not Die

Although this is a revised and expanded edition, the committee determined that the updated material, along with the enduring significance of the original content, fully justifies renewed recognition. The work continues to be cited as a cornerstone resource in academic and clinical discussions of NDEs and survival-related research.

Picturing Aura

The committee lauded the work’s exceptional scholarship, engaging prose, and beautiful design. While some raised initial questions about whether the topic of the aura lies fully within the scope of parapsychology, further examination revealed strong overlaps with research on clairvoyance, biofield perception, and psychical phenomena. The book’s extensive references to psychical researchers, including J.B. Rhine and Charles Richet, and its attention to methods of perceiving and measuring subtle energies, firmly situate it within the parapsychological domain.

A New Approach to Synchronicity: A Re-Appraisal of Jung’s Acausal Connecting Principle with a Focus on Psi
