New study on dying rats finds DMT in the brain

It's worth remembering that the idea of DMT having a significant impact on dying, and on our natural state in general, has gotten pushback quite independent of the NDE issue.

Surely, Dr Parnia is trying to be as precise as possible during his work, that's why the EEG monitoring matters.

According to his last speech, he found pretty much absence of EEG outside of relatively few cases of seizure-like activity, which isn't unheard of I think. The more AWARE II keeps going, the more infos we'll get out of it anyway.

Well, you have to remember that he was talking about all subjects in the study, not just the ones that survived. We know from prior research on the topic that adequate resuscitation efforts are associated with EEG activity, and that EEG activity is associated with survival, so I would guess that the bulk of the survivors (10% of the subjects), comes from the 20% who showed EEG activity, rather than the 80% who did not. However, the cool thing is that we will have the actual results when this is published. Plus, we will have results specific to awareness, awareness plus NDE, and awareness without NDE.

And yes, as far as I can tell, what Parnia referred to as "seizures" seemed to be the kinds of patterns doctors are used to seeing in these cases, which share some EEG features with seizures, but aren't usually called "seizures" on their own.
