Is there an after life.

I think the questions relating to seeing currently living or already deceased persons during an NDE needs context. What role do these beings play during the experience? For this we need to study actual examples, look at the details.

For example - and here I generalise, which means this is full of maybes, just possibilities, maybe the deceased give a welcome, or act as a guide. But they may also tell the person they need to go back. Now what do the living seen in these experience do? Are any of them playing the role of a 'welcoming party' or acting as guides? (I don't recall any - I'd be interested to hear of examples). Are they simply observed with no interaction? That seems most common - the difficulty of communication is often reported. Or maybe the living asks the person to come back - this is not the same as telling them they must go back. Instead perhaps a child may say "who will look after me when you are gone?" as part of a plea.

I can only repeat, actual examples are important. Otherwise this is only speculation.

I remember Tom Campbell saying that those we meet are not exactly the same as when we knew them, although they’d be close enough given the limited period NDErs have with them. He said they’re exactly the same with the one difference being that they had no free will. So if they’re replicas without free will I suppose that might make it possible to make them visible wherever their consciousness might be?

Personally, I think that they’re there to ease the transition from one realm to the next. Whether ‘alive’ or ‘dead’.
Oh my God, I hate all this.   Surprise

Not really.
Good enough to do the task required of them, which apparently is to comfort people transitioning. A sophisticated hologram, like Rimmer from Red Dwarf. Kind of makes sense to me as our consciousness has to get on with reincarnating into another body, and can’t wait around for someone to die to help them.
A possibility? Yes in my opinion.
