I don't think you've 'goofed up' at all. I wasn't aware there was even a problem. What does it actually amount to if someone mentions covid 19 inappropriately in the wrong thread and who's coming (gunning for us) for us if we do ? What terrible consequences will there be.

I think you're worrying too much but you shouldn't because you do a good job.
Well Tim, the only people "gunning for us" would be ourselves.

I'm glad people in general seem to be more or less OK with the move. Laird and I decided we'd wait 24 hours or so, so this evening (North American time) we'll move the threads.
The threads have been moved: the Wuhan novel coronavirus thread to the Non-Psi-Related Scientific Controversies subforum, and the How should society/governments be responding... thread to the Political Discussions subforum.

@Stan - I've added "from another angle" to the covid19 thread you started in the CT subforum, just to help distinguish it from the others. Let me know if this annoys you or if you want to change it to something else.

One thing I'd recommend is the creation of a null user that threads can be transferred ownership to in cases where theres are moved. I really would have preferred to not have been the owner of the societal response thread and get all the notifications for it when it got made.

Not entirely true, there is good legal reason to want to hide the discussion as several western countries are currently in the process of putting forward legislation that would moderate online speech and create what would effectively be a real life ministry of truth. So it could become the case in the future that psiencequest could get fined or worse for allowing people to talk about things the government doesn't like or agree with or in ways they didn't like or agree with.

There might be a plugin that makes something like this possible. I'll look into it, and potentially write one myself if there isn't one.

Oh, are you aware that you can turn those off by clicking the "Unsubscribe from this thread" link down the very bottom left of each thread page?

Also, you can set your subscription defaults for threads in the user control panel.

I didn't know that but now I do.
