Yes, it could certainly be considered as grounds for labelling anyone interested in deeper questions of existence as simply gullible or too stupid to figure things out.

Though I also take the personal view that there is need for balance, for example the importance of art and music in the educational curriculum, where there may be a tendency at least in some areas for a strictly limited education based only on securing a certain type of employment. The word 'balance' here applies as much to the individual too, which means not everything can be handled simply by intellect for example.

I included that because I knew it would create a reaction! But it's very possible I'm not rendering what he said well. I don't think that makes his account "suspect". I think it's probably in the end more accurate to say that in his own life plan, with the possibilities opening up before him, that that's what it would have meant likely. He wasn't making a claim that it's like that for everyone.

It's always better to listen to things in their context, whereas here you're probably just reading my sentence, which is out of context. If I find the timing of the video where he talks about that, I'll add it here.

I would go further with the "suspect" reaction. If we find something "suspect" because part of the information relayed doesn't fit our worldview, that's different, and less legitimate in my view, to find something suspect on the grounds of finding the experience questionable to begin with (did it occur? fraud, hallucination, etc. etc.). YMMV.

It's also not odd to me that think that someone who would plan to be intelligent to the nth degree, which was the case here (Einstein level), especially if we're talking about pure IQ, very cerebral, left-brained, and given the culture that we live in, that the risk of not faith- or spirituality-driven would be greater.

I'll just mention that I did listen to the video before making any comment. But I'm not overly excited by trying to criticise, I recognise different factors and viewpoints.
