Note that the quote is the description of the video, not my personal thoughts on the matter.
'Historically, we may regard materialism as a system of dogma set up to combat orthodox dogma...Accordingly we find that, as ancient orthodoxies disintegrate, materialism more and more gives way to scepticism.'

Well... shamanism had to start somewhere. Every tradition had to start somewhere ~ with someone who self-initiated, or at least, had the right mindset that allowed them to connect with spirits who then took an interest in them. Such self-initiation would be far trickier if there is no prior tradition to guide them, or if the spirits they're working with have no real experience with humans. (I'm guess I'm "lucky" enough that my angelic guides seem to know exactly what they're doing, have a clear plan (that they tell me snippets of when necessary), and give me the help, inspirations and tools I need at the right time.)
“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.”
