Call for papers: 'Folklore and Landscape'

Dr. Jack Hunter has put out a call for papers for a Special Issue of Time and Mind: Journal of Archaeology, Consciousness and Culture edited by himself and Dr. Tina Paphitis.

Quote:In this Special Issue, we aim to explore the impact and use of folklore in landscape interactions, and how these engagements help, hinder or have the potential to contribute to broader debates and policies surrounding environmental sustainability and social activism in the past and present.

Papers on this theme can consider (but are not limited to) such questions as:

Quote:
  • What kind of engagements with the landscape are mediated by folklore?

  • How does folklore encourage engagement with the landscape?

  • What role can folklore play in broadening public awareness of the natural environment, and how can it contribute to environmental policy?

  • In what ways have engagements with landscapes through folklore inspired social, environmental, political and economic activism?

  • What issues can arise in the popularisation of folklore at certain places, and how can engagement with folklore contribute to a more sustainable form of tourism?
