Ancient, or at least pre-modern, reincarnation cases?

Saw this while reading about reincarnation history in this essay ->

"They say that, while staying at Argos, [Pythagoras] saw a shield from the spoils of Troy nailed up, and burst into tears. When the Argives asked him the reason for his emotion, he said that he himself had borne that shield in Troy when he was Euphorbus; they did not believe him, and judged him to be mad, but he said he would find a true sign that this was the case; for on the inside of the shield was written in archaic lettering EUPHORBUS’ S. Because of the extraordinary nature of the claim, they all urged him to take down the offering; and the inscription was found on it.

Got me curious about the possibility of other historically documented reincarnation cases that predate what we might call the "Modern Era".

To be clear I am not talking about belief in reincarnation, which can be found across the globe, but rather specifically actual claims of reincarnation by historical persons.
'Historically, we may regard materialism as a system of dogma set up to combat orthodox dogma...Accordingly we find that, as ancient orthodoxies disintegrate, materialism more and more gives way to scepticism.'

- Bertrand Russell
