Hmmm... sleep paralysis? It's a common thing to feel all sorts of weirdness, like hearing stuff that's not there, feeling physical sensations, and therefore even harder to distinguish real entity contact with one created by the half-dreaming subconscious, because the physical senses half-blend with the dream world.
People who're trying to lucid dream often run into this stuff, where the mind is trying to figure out whether it the body is ready to prepare for the transition into sleep mode proper. I never got past the severe discomfort of this stage. I'd just get so twitchy and itchy I couldn't resist moving... :/
