It's funny. I'm now watching the 2020 doc The Phenomenon and now I'm at the point where they're discussing this case in depth!
I mean he could be wrong but I'm sure Vallee has read all of this stuff and is more than aware of it.

Admittedly I should read up on his current position to make sure I have it right, I don't think he necessarily said it's all spirits or anything like that.

He's featured as an interviewee in that documentary The Phenomenon.

I don't [believe] anyone who rejects the nuts & bolts explanation is denying there can be manifestations that look like technology?

It's not as if I think what they really saw were dragons or some other mythical creatures, rather the question is are these actual instances of technology or a mirroring of our human technological expectations? This is why I think Vallee's recording of historical "UFO" sightings in pre-modern history are so important.

That said I don't have any strong opinions that these are evil spirits, or manipulative dimensional entities or anything of that sort. I just think that if you look at all the varied cases across the historical record it makes sense that a fair number of these cases are not involving actual machines.

That seems reasonable to me. I would just insist that some number of UFO cases (a substantial minority) were definitely "somebody else's hardware". In the absence of credible plausible conventional explanations of the cases on my list, for instance.

Related are two other books I reviewed in that same thread, Keith Chester's Strange Company, about the WWII foo fighters, and Frank Feschino's Shoot Them Down! The Flying Saucer Air Wars of 1952.

The Levelland case is certainly intriguing. It just fell off my list because a cursory reading about it indicated that the witnesses were not trained observers like pilots and police officers, one of the general requirements I have had over the years for completely credible sightings. I know the Cash/Landrum case also didn't involve trained observers, but other circumstances seemed to override that factor, like the documented radiation burns on Betty Cash, for instance.

On looking at this case anew, I have to agree that it is persuasive, so I'll add it to my list.

Re: Vallée and "nuts and bolts". He clearly believes in nults-and-bolts UFOs, since as can be seen in The Phenomenon (2020) he and Garry Nolan are analyzing the débris Vallée has collected over the years from cases, looking into their atomic structure, and detecting what they're calling manufactured "ultra-materials".

Here's an excerpt:

Nbtruthman, if you haven't seen this documentary, I can PM you a link if you're interested.
