Yes, though it could in principle provide evidence that some anomalous communication is going on.

But I feel the claims they are making about what they're going to do are quite unbelievable, and actually I'm surprised it's legal to solicit money from people in these circumstances.

Still, a reliable yes/no mechanism should be pretty easy to test for accuracy in terms of veridical information. But I'm guessing we'll be seeing an excuse for the postponement of the SoulSwitch within the next 6 months or so.

By the time 6 more months have passed we'll probably have forgotten it was being promised anyway and Christmas and New Year celebrations will be occupying our thoughts.  I'll continue to monitor as I have been monitoring these past two decades or more but I won't really be expecting any significant move forward.

Why, one wonders, do predictions about the emergence of such a device need to be made anyway?  If someone does succeed then all that has to happen is to declare success.  Failed predictions do nobody's reputation any good.

As such, results may be highly variable. The ability to receive yes/no answers does not in itself verify the identity or source of any purported communications. Perhaps the outcome will be more dependent on by whom it it used, and under what circumstances.

You are likely right....  Wonder who funds the spirit-side of the development? Huh

It appears the SoulPhone has a rival. Using the Dragonfly, it costs only $75 an hour to contact the dead:

I'm curious - is there any kind of legal control or regulation of this kind of commercial activity in the USA?

I had missed the fact that this device is being peddled from Canada, not the USA - at $3000 a time.

What does it do? It plays "a sound file that is made up of non-discernible voice sounds in looped two-second segments".

That puzzled me too. I can see how maybe a small, one-time fee for the download of a sound file and a set of instructions could be justified, but a physical device, and one costing that much, or ongoing, hourly fees of that size...?...

Sounds like a bargain. I’ll  get two.  Skeptic

The world of spiritual belief is the most materialistic of all!

I think you may be confusing genuine belief with people who have no interest in the spiritual elements whatsoever. Lol
