It was fun

I think I should just leave the forum at this point. I am clearly incapable of getting along with nearly anyone, and not being capable of posting is the only way to ensure I stop getting into pointless arguments about things that don't even matter that drags everyone down.

Besides, everything I post is crazy anyways. I'm very sure that me being here lowers the seriousness and possible credibility of the forum by a larger single margin than anything else and that's bothered me for a long time. I think what you guys have here is a really great thing, I'd much rather preserve its original scientific intent.

If the admins have a "delete everything this account has ever posted" button it'd be great if you could use that. If not, I'll go through and delete everything myself manually. Naturally some things will always be preserved in peoples replies, but at least the bulk of the craziness will be scoured away. And then soon enough as everything moves on, it will be like it'd never existed.

EDIT/

Or maybe I should just leave it all as a sort of warning of what not to do, I don't really know.

/EDIT

Maybe I'll achieve my goals, maybe I won't, but it's time to go back to isolation with all that and see what I can get done.

Best of luck to everyone.

I'd be sorry to see you go Mediochre and always enjoy reading your posts about your experiences. I know it takes a tough skin when you get into arguments - it seems people are sensitive about a certain social topic at a particularly anxiety-provoking time (rightly or wrongly) and they reacted to what you wrote. Putting aside whether that's understandable, I would try to just let that be what it is and not rob us of what you bring to the forum! I definitely don't think you lower its credibility. This is just my personal take, but I especially enjoy reading psi experiencers who write about their own experiences. It's pretty rare and it makes you a valued member.

I'm sure some other people here, even if they might have taken offense at something you said (I think that's probably happened to most people here at least at one time or another!), think the way I do about your contributions here.

Well said, Ian. Your posts and presence here are valuable, Mediochre. I don't think you should leave over a robust exchange. Those are par for the course on forums. I actually like that you show up with contrary views a lot of the time - having our views challenged is a good way of testing them and learning about alternatives and why people think the way they do. I like that you have the courage of your convictions, even when I disagree with you. It's OK to express strong disagreement, and if that expression turns into an argument that you think is pointless, then you can always decide the point at which you back out and let it rest - I doubt that anybody is going to hold any grudges over it; we're all well aware of the nature of forum discussions. You mean well, and that's the main thing.

I do not hang around here much, but judging by what I have seen there is really no reason for you to leave unless that is what you want.

In fairness, the situation varies enormously in different counties around the world, it isn't always easy to associate oneself with someone across the world in a different land. Though as people we have a lot in common, circumstances differ. This applies in both directions.

Thumbs Up
I've had the same feelings in the past.  Try doing what I am doing.  Looking in from time to time and only posting the occasional post when it seems important or interesting enough to you.  One thing I like about you is reading about your experiences and experiments.  Forums can be tough places and for sensitive people like you and me it can be a good thing to take a back seat from time to time, but never say never.  Leave a door open. Smile
