Folklore

I wonder if we can have a forum or subforum to discuss folklore?
I guess not!   *shrugs shoulders*

Is it a topic being discussed enough to warrant a new subforum, or is there any reason to think that it would become one if the subforum was created? I mean, I think it's a good idea to minimise the number of subforums - don't you? So, we'd need a good reason to create a new subforum. But maybe if you want to press the case you could set up a poll to see who would post in or otherwise welcome a folklore subforum?

I'm neutral on the matter. Not for, not against. Though in general I reckon the fewer subdivisions the better. I tend to post in 'other' to avoid having to figure out how to classify things. But that's just me.

I suppose if there was sufficient interest - or sufficient related material being posted, then it could make sense.

I don't think anybody is interested.  Forget it.

I find it interesting, and there have been a fair number of posts about fai(e)ries and related things. But I take the point that there may not be quite enough for a forum in its own right.

I suppose the only real way of gauging interest is by experiment. So I've started a folklore thread under "Other Phenomena":

I think it is reasonable that folklore should be discussed, I am sure some of it is pretty relevant, so surely the only question is where to put it. I must say, I don't find this forum that easy to navigate anyway.

To some extent, neither do I. But I've always thought the biggest difficulty of navigation is in having too many sub-divisions. Does adding more categories make things easier or harder? At any rate, do you have views on the reason(s) why navigation isn't easy?
Your suggested forum has been created, Brian - see Ian's post New child forums.
