Why do you have to be such a condescending little prick?

Frankly, after the small number of posts I have put up and the fact that I have so far been called a fraud, accused of trying to get someone banned with no evidence, a sock puppet whatever the hell that is, and now dishonest, cowardly and indirectly a pu**y ("...mean words over the internet? Oh no!").

I think I'm going to head off of this forum. Sorry Tim and others who are genuinely friendly people but I have higher standards.
See ya

Okay, have fun out there.

It seems we are pretty much a dysfunctional family, with all our quirks and bumps on show.

My guess is he'll have a new alternate account within a week or so.

What a shame. Darren's basically started doing what Alex Tsakiris has been doing for some time now, so it's clear that he's serious about the subject matter of our board. He's a good fit for us, but instead he's made to feel so unwelcome that he leaves. Disappointing.

To be fair, all I did was point out how I know his actions will be perceived by the psuedo-skeptics and recommended he not take those actions if he wants his position to be taken more seriously. I addressed his legitimate concerns by offering solutions. If someone is willing to interview someone they themselves describe as an "Arch Atheist" then that person surely must be expecting pushback no matter what they do, not being willing to deal with it isn't really an option for someone like that. Especially when their pushback isn't going to be anything of substance like it might've been a decade ago AND when it would in fact help your case, not hinder it.

I do agree that I don't really like how others seemed so hostile towards him right off the bat, I still have no idea what that's about.

Honestly we should take this to heart as an absolute fuckup of colossal proportions. There's only a handful of us actively on here and if some of us are gonna be such cunts that we actively push away new people then what are we good for? Just gonna let ourselves become an echo chamber of the same few blokes patting ourselves on the back all day.

I don't think it was entirely your fault, if you're put on the defwnsive out of the gate you're gonna be on the lookout for things you view as people calling you out. I feel like that's what happened here.

Yeah, maybe if Darren had been more established and had more positive interactions under his belt here, he wouldn't have taken your posts so badly, Mediochre. Who knows?
This seems like some interesting revisionist history.

His first posts were calling me a subhuman monster who hasn't suffered enough, then the bizarre nonsense about people sending him spam.

That he couldn't handle some mild criticism from Mediochre makes him someone who can't take what he dishes out.

Then his switch from posts supporting the filter/transmission idea to threads about rat memory and LSD that - as he put it - showed Physicalism to be true.

His "higher" standards apparently involve reaching out to "arch atheists" who trash proponents, [guys like Aaron Ra who make podcasts chuckling] with people like the Churchlands about how Chalmers is deluded.

Dude's a clout chaser, my guess [is] he wanted us to do the hard work of refuting varied Physicalist points that he could then use for his own media presence. [That or he's a pseudo-skeptic playing at being a proponent.]

Alex, for all the differences I had with him, put a lot of work into building a place for proponents of different stripes to gather and share perspectives and build connections. [No matter what you knew where he stood, which was against the pseudo-skeptics.] Not even a comparison in my book.

His first posts were calling out your treatment of Omni. Since he and Omni have talked off-forum over Skype or the like, he presumably knows that Omni's not a sock-puppet and that Omni really does suffer from the crippling anxiety that he says he does. Knowing that, your treatment of Omni would seem cruel and worth calling out. I don't think it's controversial to say that if Omni is for real, then your treatment of him has been less than stellar. Is that fair?
