The name Irving Finkel rang a bell with me, traceable back to a talk on ghosts, of which this was a little interlude about cinema representations. https://psiencequest.net/forums/thread-v...2#pid32122
I even bought one of Finkel's books (in kindle form) but haven't (yet) read it.

Quote:Irving Finkel, PhD, is Senior Assistant Keeper of ancient Mesopotamian script, languages, and cultures at the British Museum. He is the curator in charge of cuneiform inscriptions on tablets of clay from ancient Mesopotamia, of which the Middle East Department has the largest collection of any modern museum. He is author of several books, including, The First Ghosts: Most Ancient of Legacies, The Ark Before Noah: Decoding the Story of the Flood, The Lewis of Chessman and What Happened to Them, and The Last Resort Library. The British Museum website is britishmuseum.org. Irving Finkel discovered many clay tablets with cuneiform writing about ghosts from ancient Mesopotamia. He suggests that belief in ghosts is widespread across all cultures and underpins all religions. He deciphered the first depiction of a ghost in a clay tablet that is in the Guinness Book of World Records.
