One of the things I like about Hoffman is that he never claims to have all the answers and doesn't claim to have solved everything. But that doesn't stop pseudo-skeptics trying to 'debunk' him and say it's 'old cartesian dualism wrapped in a modern package':

Who exactly says Hoffman is rewrapping dualism?

The man's been interviewed by Sam Harris, so I'd think at the least people would have a good understanding that Hoffman's view is a kind of Idealism.

A Redditor in the r/Skeptic community, who are regarded by some as arrogant, hypocritical and skeptical of everything BUT themselves.

I think Reddit seems like a terrible place to get good criticisms let alone good arguments.

You should "up your game" and deal with more serious sources. IMO anyway...

I guess...Reddit isn't exactly a highly-regarded site honestly...

I don't know...I tend to assume things to much about what people do and don't know about consciousness. Sometimes I wish I'd never been on that site and never gotten into any of this stuff...

If your goal is to know there is survival after this life, you should try to garner personal experiences. Dreaming seems like a good start for laying that foundation.

But you have to strengthen your mind to have any success there, the positive being that a disciplined mind is useful even in this life.

Beyond that, you should look deeply into actual studies, witness accounts, philosophy of mind if you want to have an intellectual examination of the issues. I'm sure there will be some yahoo on Reddit or somewhere else on social media for you to challenge at a later date after you have a better handle on what the arguments are...

Personally I think I'll stay away from Reddit once the stuff I'm working on is sorted. I'll probably be able to go to that Spiritualist centre again as well.

How might dreaming give me insight Sci? Could you elaborate on that?

Well most people can't keep buying access to mediums, nor do they have the ability to extensively travel. Even trying to talk to mediums online is inviting frauds.

Ghosts, AFAIK, don't routinely show up for most of us.

So your best bet is to try and achieve communication with the dead while dreaming. Recording your dreams, as others have mentioned, is also a good way to check for precognition/clairvoyance/telepathy.

You can spend time on the internet, but you should use that time wisely seeking a real understanding of the issues.

I've thought about recording intuitive experiences I've had, but they might just be coincidences, I'm not sure. Guess that's the point of recording them!

The Spiritualist centre I trust. They've had someone on before who I suspected MIGHT have been a fraud but then had three (technically four) more who seemed very genuine. I mentioned them on that personal experience I posted. But it still isn't enough for me I guess.

By dreams do you mean like visitations? I don't remember my dreams as often now, sometimes I don't think I have any.

You have to put effort into dream recall.

As much as but maybe even a bit more effort than the skeptical arguments you find to post here.
