Oh my God, I hate all this.
It's an interrogation. Next, I'll be bringing out the blinding lights.
Thanks for indulging me, Steve. (2019-07-26, 12:15 AM)Laird Wrote: I found the article online: When Your Child Is a Psychopath. Thanks for the link and quote. This is interesting work on the problem. I guess my brief Internet research was too brief. My original conjecture was more in the line of idle speculation than a fully worked out hypothesis. I still think that the soullessness or as you suggest, evil soul explanations may account for some cases. But when examined in detail the phenomenon of sociopathy appears to be just as complex as other human disorders, with several interacting mechanisms going on. Such paranormal-related explanations my also explain some cases of psychopaths and schizophrenics. These cases may be some form of "overshadowing" or possession by a sick or evil soul. "Thirty Years Among the Dead" by psychiatrist Dr. Carl Wickland documents many years of psychic communications where releases from the conditions were achieved. This work dates back to the 1920s. That title and author's name are very familiar. it has come up many times. Though for some strange reason I've not actually read it. Probably it's time I did so.
Michael Prescott had a fascinating thread about Thirty Years Among the Dead in his blog. It is at https://michaelprescott.typepad.com/mich...-dead.html . Some excerpts:

Quote:"I just finished reading the well-known book by Dr. Carl A. Wickland, 30 Years among the Dead, originally published in 1924. The book recounts Dr. Wickland's efforts to cure his psychiatric patients by spiritualist methods. His wife Anna was a powerful medium, and Wickland became convinced that some of the incurable patients institutionalized at his facility were suffering from spirit obsession. He tested his theory by subjecting the patients to electroshock therapy, which was intended to drive the obsessing entity out of the patient's "magnetic aura." The entity was then attracted to the entranced Mrs. Wickland. Dr. Wickland would speak with the earthbound spirit in an attempt to convince the spirit to open his or her spiritual eyes and progress to the next stage of development. In many cases the effort proved successful, and the patient, who had previously resisted all cures, improved markedly and could be de-institutionalized. As can be told from some of the penetrating comments in the thread, in some respects this work by Wickland and his trance medium wife can be looked at as a mixed bag: Quote:"There is an element of theatricality to the sessions. They can seem overly dramatic and artificial. And yet apparently many otherwise incurable patients were helped, and veridical information was obtained. So there is fodder for both skeptics and proponents." This "theatricality" could most easily be ascribed to Wickland documenting the sessions via rough note-taking, then incorporating and reconstituting the sessions for his book. His personality would have clearly come through from this process. Wickland denied the reality of reincarnation. He attributed such cases to spirit obsession. This is a major problem of course, due to the large body of empirical evidence that can best be explained by reincarnation. This has been amassed by a number of researchers, most prominently Ian Stevenson. Also, from poster David: Quote:"There seems to be a pattern of self-fulfillment here. The Wickland accounts were obtained by a husband/wife team who were fully invested in their view that the "lower astral" is populated by wayward spirits trying to possess the living, and that this accounted for many serious mental conditions. They consistently found what they were looking for. Similarly, Michael Newton looks for and expects his hypnotic regression subjects to find between-lives memories, so sure enough many of his subjects come up with such memories. Past-life therapists believe that many serious mental and emotional problems are due to buried past life traumatic memories, and sure enough, many of their patients come up with past life traumatic memories that seem to explain their problem. Sometimes this process even seems to resolve the problem. Then there is Alan Botkin and his Induced After-Death Communication for treatment of PTSD, using special eye movement therapy to induce apparent communication with the dead. Then there was Helen Wambach, who used low level hypnotic induction of large groups of people to get statistics on the patterns of past lives in the population over several thousand years. She hoped to get results correctly reflecting population statics developed by historians, and, sure enough, the reported past life characteristics fit the historical data.

Haven't followed every bit of this thread but I wanted to post on it for a bit anyways. Though at this point I guess I don't really know what I wanted to say anymore. Generally I think the idea that people choose every bit of their incarnation is absolutely ridiculous and if someone really, truly believes that then they're just a horrible person. I very much hope very horrible things happen to such people since, according to them, they chose for those things to happen so it's not like they could be mad at me for it. In fact they chose for me to say that I want horrible things to happen to them, which means they can't be mad at me for that either since I have no free will according to them. As far as I'm concerned such an idea is ridiculous, self-debunking, and not worth consideration.
As far as I'm concerned I have connected to my soul and regained most of my memories. Though I did have some help. But at the same time this body is far more limited than mine is so it can't really do much with that. Here's the short version of what led to this life as best as I can tell. Basically, had to deal with some guy in an adjacent reality who claimed they wanted to help people but kinda went full totalitarian about it. Afterwards came back to find that the people we'd left in charge were doing shit like covertly psychically manipulating people to start wars, claiming that doing things like that would help souls mature. I dissagreed and they were like "well if you think it's so bad then why don't you go down there yourself?" So I did, but in a slightly adjacent reality for safety. Purposefully making sure I had no magic or anything to make my life as normal as possible for accuracy. My friends thought that, if I'm going to be down there anyways I should take a break from fightng because it'd kinda messed me up quite a lot and I agreed. Presumably, this is that reality, however this is not that life. Best as I can tell that life ended with me getting my magic and leaving physically via a portal or something. However right when when I got back I got into a really big argument with Scarlet, who I was and technically in a sense still am in a relationship with She felt very hurt that in that life I'd done nothing but deny their existence for so long and was mad at me for it. My response was to defensively go "Okay fine, I'll just go back down and do better if that's how you feel" which supposedly started this life. Reinserting myself back into the exact same timespace point that I started the other life at. Meaning same body, parents, etc. But since I'm literally not the same person as I was the last time it cannot follow the exact same timeline. It will just be very similar at most. So this means that my blindness and such was there initially and I cannot deny that it is the ONLY reason I didn't follow my traditional life path of joining a military, making my own, going vigilante, etc. Some kind of life of fighting which usually doesn't last super long. There's only a few reasons why my body would have such a genetic condition 1: I chose it myself - I highly doubt this but at the same time it sounds like something I would think of just as a challenge or a means of forcing myself down a certain path. But I don't think I have the expertise to actually choose my body to that degree and I don't remember it anyways. 2: Someone else chose it - They claim they didn't but at the same time I have so much suspicion that somehow Gold was involved in this because I know her style of teaching and there's a number of odd things in this life that look so much like her handiwork. 3: I was most compatible with this body out of whatever was available - most likely to me, I don't know how to explain it, at least not without having to all but write a book on it, but me being blind makes a LOT of sense as per other patterns of incarnations from my past. Which indicates that incarnation is mostly like gravity, you drift to your lowest stable energy state and there's a lot that influences that. Everyone agrees that this life was a mistake, they even gave me an out when I was a kid and I didn't take it. Also, a whole bunch of stuff apparently went wrong which is how the paranormal and all this stuff got forced on me starting in 2008. But it was me who decided to start developing combative abilities, it was me who decided to go out and attack certain people via projection and otherwise, and me who has made my entire life about magic since. I own the consequences of that, but I certainly didn't sign up for it before hand. It's the same with the rest of my life both in and out of one shot incarnations like this, I almost always become a fighter because that's just what I do. This incarnation was supposed to be a break from that because of how much it mentally and emotionally destroyed me over time, but it didn't really go that way. My friends have always wanted me to not focus on it or magic at all and just live normally. Or at the very least just focus on OBE's so I can just pop out and go home so this thing can be over. But since I refuse to do that because I can't just go back to normality after everything that's happened they've relented and decided they'd help out like others are. Though with a strong message of at least trying to balance things out with normal life things because they think it'll make me happier. Best as I can remember I'm not even part this whole school incarnation system thing and did not use it at all to come down. In fact, that idea is pretty unique to here. Normally according to my past, there is no such system. If you incarnate somewhere it's because it's just where you happened to fall. Kinda like a seed. Systems like the one supposedly here were all artificial constructs only active in their local area.

Such a "system" (being no system at all) even if it applied only to a portion of the population would certainly explain the existence of millions of miserable pain-filled lives without having to postulate deliberate soul choices that the human personality would absolutely never make. Presumably at least some souls would have a fundamental automatic attraction to physical bodies as they became available, and which body they would inhabit would be a random selection. This of course would upend very many channeled New Age and religious teachings. (2019-07-31, 03:13 PM)nbtruthman Wrote: This of course would upend very many channeled New Age and religious teachings. In the context of systems of oppression (my post in another thread), we might question the source at the other end of those channels. |
