Precognitive writing/stories that turned out accurate?

I didn't know whether or not to post this is not the personal experiences thread since this isn't an experience I have had, but one that was described to me very recently at the time of writing this by a volunteer at a museum in Ripon, North Yorkshire. She had been discussing her regular experiences of apparitions in the museum (a former workhouse) when she started describing an unrelated spooky experience that made me think of precognition...

She described how she was once sitting on a bus for a long journey, and as a past time, she would often write stories about random passengers, since she was a writer. On one occasion, she was on a journey for quite awhile with one particular woman who stayed on the bus as long as she did. I'm not sure whether she said it was by random chance or she was drawn to her, but they later met again on the bus and got to know each other.

When the volunteer brought up her hobby to the woman, she asked about what she'd written for her story. As it turned out, the supposedly fictional story written for this random passenger turned out to be 'at least 90% correct, down to the important details' of the passenger's actual real life! They were both astounded by how accurate the story was in describing not only her, but events that had happened in the past to her and even fairly recently.

Has anyone ever heard of or read about any similar examples to this kind of thing? Is this some kind of precognition, telepathy, synchronicity, or just coincidental?

That is an interesting account. I think Dean Radin has (tried to) argued that  there is only one psi phenomenon, i.e. precognition. In this case the writer would be picking up details from her future meeting with the woman. Another perspective is clairvoyance, where the writer could perceive information without usual types of sensory input. In this case, she might have perceived directly, and perhaps gained additional information which was not part of that future conversation. Similarly it might have been telepathy, where the thoughts most prominent in the woman's mind were received.

Though my views on Radin are positive, I think he is resorting to "promissory precognition" (a phrase I just made up) in assuming that things can always be explained in this way. I don't share his views in this case, though I do think he is a good contributor to the field.
