The thread title isn't as good as I first thought but I don't know what to change it to. I'm also pretty sure someone's already made a thread about this.
The New Albion Tetraology
A quadrilogy of musicals. Starting with the founding of the city and one person's invention of the ability to put the souls of the dead into mechanical dolls to not let go of the person they loved and how that affects the city of New Albion over a very long period of time.
Soma
A survival horror puzzle game where you take the role of a medical patient who get's spirited away to a near future underwater facility after a routine brainscan. It has generated and continues to generate lots and lots of debate on consciousness, identity and "value" online.
The "Shock" games (System Shock / Bio Shock)
Though some entries do this better than others they generally have a strong focus on the theme of freedom. System Shock does this with AI and cybernetics and Bio Shock does it with genetic engineering and mutation. You can pretty much ignore System Shock 1 but System Shock 2 is generally considered one the most influential things ever made and has inspired quite a lot of media. Just try not to spoil any of them for yourselves. since they really do like their story telling and twists.
Ghost in the Shell
Starting as an animated movie in 1995 to it's titular Stand Alone Complex series and others it deals very, very strongly with the idea of consciousness in an increasingly cyberized society. You can probably safely ignore the 2017 Hollywood movie.
These are at least what I can think of off the top of my head.
