Summary	Today's neuroscience is guilty of promoting many a groundless triumphal legend. One of those groundless socially-constructed triumphal legends is the clam that researcher Susumu Tonegawa did something to show a physical basis for memory. Tonegawa recently died, and the Transmitter magazine has a worshipful article repeating some of these groundless legends.
