The forum is now mobile-friendly through Tapatalk

Spawn of the Devil is Tapitalk, I, like a lot of people wont use it, the constant nagging when visiting a site on my mobile is terrible. I leave immediately. I just won’t use sites that use it. The forced advertising is often used as a way to launch an attack on people’s phones. Sorry, but I think this is a very very bad idea.

That's interesting, Max. I hadn't heard of that. I've only used it for visiting one (non-psi) forum and never clicked on advertising so don't know what it does.

I'd be curious to know if other people have opinions about it. When you say you won't use sites that use it, do you mean to say you won't visit PQ not-on-Tapatalk if it's registered on Tapatalk?

I obviously don't care enough about this to make it an issue for people to want to connect to PQ!

I'll wait for more opinions, feedback, before doing anything.

Phew!

I did look around on the net about pros and cons with Tapatalk. Some have concerns over the usual (and legitimate) privacy concerns. I guess individual members could look into that if they use that platform, like any other. I've used it mostly, almost exclusively, to read rather than post.

So the forum is now running on Tapatalk. Much thanks to Max B for redoing the logo in a square design so that it fits the requirements!

If anyone wants to try it out on your mobile (just download the tapatalk app and do a search for "psience quest"), any feedback is welcome.

The front "page" doesn't look as good as other forums - possibly I haven't done what's required to make it look like the others. Again if anyone has feedback, it's appreciated.

I'm not able to do it. In any event, it looks better right now than when I had just configured it. However on the home page, I notice we have "New Articles" and then you can scroll right through threads. But on many other forums, they have "Trending Discussions" instead, and on some of them you can even scroll down and see more content. I don't know why that is.

Also, under our "New Articles" heading, the "boxes" for each thread have a kind of ugly gray with a little white square in the middle. I don't know if it's possible to reconfigure that better.

Of course when you go the Forums tab or the Discussions tab rather than the Home tab, everything's fine.

Are we sure all vulnerabilities with Tapatalk are fixed?

"Tapatalk has many forums hacked in the past and revealed information of hidden contents like private forums. Do not have a plugin compatibyllity due it works at own core, it means is like you use not mybb but other script with many holes in security.

The best choice is a responsive theme. I use GoMobile, but i think have the same logic as responsive theme, only set a theme for mobile devices. And you have two themes one for mobiles, one for pc's. And have to work two times every new plugin addittion.

That and more things sets the best choice as use some responsive and mobile friendly theme. "
