On ignore but still shows in alerts

I have Pssst on ignore but he still shows up in my alerts.  I was hoping his prophecy about our worlds splitting had come true but apparently not.  Can this be remedied and also can it be fixed so that if anybody quotes somebody on your ignore list, you don't have to see the quote?

I have Linda on ignore but, like you, I get alerts and see her responses quoted in other posts. That's fine by me because she's not addressing me directly. If she does reply to me directly I get a notification but her message is hidden so that I can ignore it. I can also choose to read it if I'm so inclined at that moment so that's the kind of flexibility I can live with.

In all fairness, apart from his bite, his absurdity reminds me of a friend of mine back in England who I suspect has high functioning autism spectrum disorder - what used to be referred to as aspergers.  When Pssst mentioned his schooling, ADHD came to mind and I started to feel more sympathetic towards him but I still found his absurdity too much.  I'm afraid I'm just not tolerant enough.

Travesty, why isn't that you didn't take this up in PM with the Mods? I had a recent problem, did so, didn't whine in pubic about it. Grip. Get one.

Absolute proof you failed to grasp the entire concept of this modern, physical reality. It's a process, Brian, again, for the umpteenth time. Insecurity is a filter fyi

Hire a linguist. Maybe they can write the php code for you. Or call Chris Boulton and cry him your river.

One of the prior Skeptic forums (I think Mind/Body) had that feature - you could choose the level of ignore, including when others quoted the ignoree. It made for some interesting reading sometimes. Don't see that here.

Though I understand the problem, and sympathise, I doubt that there's any easy fix, other than perhaps writing some custom piece of javascript. (It has crossed my mind more than once to try this, but not found the time so far). Even then, it may not be foolproof - depending on how consistently each user types their own posts.

The way I see it is this. This forum software behaves a little differently to that used on the Skeptiko site. Hence I consider those things which this software does better, rather than how it is not so good. In particular, here it is easy to temporarily unignore any individual post, on a single post-by-post basis whereas the 'other' software acts like a very blunt instrument where the page must be reloaded with all the ignored content shown. In that respect I much prefer the way this works.

Just ignore, even if the forum doesn't. That way you're being less of a pussy, and achieving some stoic enlightenment.

Heh. It’s not “the post” that causes the problem but one’s reaction to it. An adult should be able to master that reaction.
