Music while driving...

I use to be in an occupation that meant I was driving a lot - often at night. No I weren't a trucker, but I did computer consulting , and was a network technician. Which meant; I was driving a lot - and almost always home when it was night.

Tired as hell, almost always, I realized pretty early on that this could be a hazard. I had a friend that was a real trucker, and when I asked him for advise on how to keep awake. He "prescribed" Death Metal (which he fuckin hated *LOL*), and he said it kept him awake because it was a tornado of mayhem - sounds that he loathed - so the high volume, plus the "hate-factor" -that,.... plus driving with an open window in the middle of the winter - kept him awake. LOL

Well, I didn't intend to put myself through that kind of suffering, so instead I found that if I had loud music - with a hefty bass-kick in it - it kept me awake. So put in my big sub-woofer in the trunk of the car and then put together a playlist with groovy bass-pumping music. I don't mean some Euro-Disco pumping-beat, but instead some groovy music but with a hefty bass.

I'm a bass-player so I put in some of my fav-tracks, and when I put these on, turned up the volume - and it kept me awake like a gallon of coffee.

I mean, you lot probably fuckin hate this music, but know that; they kept me alive, driving through snowstorms, hefty autumn rains, tsunamis, and landslides, in the dead of night Thumbs Up ....well, there were no tsunamis,....and there was only one landslide....but they kept me alive, from dying of boredom.

If you have two 18inch sub-woofers, bumping on full in the trunk, these songs will keep you awake -....if you like this kind of groove, I mean.

Enigma - Voyageur

Simple Minds - Promised You A Miracle

David Bowie - Criminal World

Jamiroquai - Cosmic Girl

...but as a speed-freak; this is one of the favorite songs Devil
"Maxing out" on 300 km/h (186 mph) for "speed-demons" like these, they do it casually on their way to work. It is fuckin reckless, on so many levels - but in some way I can relate. But it should be done on a race-track, and not criss-crossing through night-traffic. It is reckless & dangerous...if one of the cars decided to change lane when he hurled by in 250kpm..."hamburger".....

LOOK AT VIDEO IN FULL-SCREEN - it kinda make s you feel you are there (for a bit) ....well if you have a really big TV-screen it does....but anyway.
...
Saxon - Motorcycle Man

Aah, my brother use to listen to Rory, he liked him. He was Irsih, wasnt he?
He was OK, but the true Irish (Emerald Isle)-heroes for me was Phil Parris Lynnot & Gary Moore.

Since the first time my brother played the album Jailbreak for me and then Black Rose, I have been a Lizzy-fan.
I can, truthfully say, that I have listened to most of the Lizzy-albums a hundred times. Especially when I were picking out Phils every bass-lines.Their first pre-Lizzy songs are..."weird"..to say the least. And I cant play all of the pre-Lizzy-songs. But I can play pretty much every song they made under the name of Thin Lizzy....it was kinda my way of learning playing the bass....

I had a stitch when I tried/thought I could/wanna play the guitar....so I listened to a few Gary Moore-albums to pick out a few licks/songs...and just gave it up.........Trying to play any way near to anything Gary Moore  play, was just futile....

Thin Lizzies fight or fail, is one of my favorites. And i really enjoyed the album Gary Moore did with Pat Benatar.
As for Bass players, ive had a soft spot for Jack Bruce, for about as long as i can remember.

You could almost turn the ignition off on this one.
