I watched a bit of that, and maybe I will watch a bit more, but I didn't think JP was a good person to interview RP.

JP was making elementary errors, and not really acknowledging his mistakes even when RP explained the error. For example early on, JP referred to Gödel's famous theorems (actually I believe there are two distinct theorems) and muddled that up with quantum indeterminacy.

RP is clearly an old man now, but he battled manfully to correct JP, and I felt sorry for him.

Did you discover a good part of the interview?

It was mainly that Jordan was interviewing him at all, since its pretty far out of his norm. So I thought that was neat. Also, He's incredibly popular, so having him touch parapsychology at all will be a positive thing.

Can you tell me roughly where to go in the interview to listen to Roger Penrose mention parapsychology?

I don't think he does specifically, but that doesn't matter because he discusses at least one section of the ideas. Namely around consciousness, and its non algorithmic nature (according to him).

Roger Penrose wrote a number of books about consciousness some time back, and they all hinge on his view that consciousness can't be the result of a computation - or of course anything that simply maps on to a computation - such as a bunch of neurons signalling one another.

Neither is super easy to read, but he makes a good case that consciousness isn't computation - so of course AI isn't conscious. He never refers to parapsychology as such, but in as much as he concludes the usual theories of consciousness are false, it is certainly pointing in that direction.
For those who use YouTube, I believe this is the same interview.  (Others can confirm)
