I think, the Drake equation is a compelling argument that
intelligent life exists, despite the fact we don't know value
of most of parameters

Human experience has also consistently humbled our delusions 
of our uniqueness.

Paradox lies in the question whether the distance in space time
results in advanced species meeting each other or not.

Further the question arises whether such a
species would empathize with us or not. We
eat fairly sentient species. Cows do have feelings
