This is off-topic, but it’s meant for informational purposes.

Most people don’t realize, until they have been stalked and threatened and have involved the relevant authorities (thinking that this will help), the relevant authorities actually can’t do very much about stalkers and threats. They certainly are not able to prevent physical harm nor ensure your safety. This might come as a surprise to some people, and I wouldn’t want your advice to mislead them, is all.

I can't help but be wary of someone who has a long list of things they DO NOT believe/suspect/favor/are-drawn-to and not one thing they actually DO believe/suspect/favor/are-drawn-to.  I've never met anyone who fits that description.  While I guess its possible; it screams disingenuous.

I give credit to Steve, for example, for being an ardent materialist/physicalist.

The list itself was just specific to the items Laird asked about. There is a long list of things I actually do believe/suspect/favour/are-drawn-to. They just weren’t relevant.

Also, note that Laird mentioned in an early post ”the original philosophical skeptics tried as far as possible not to hold any positive beliefs.” And this suggestion was not criticized as disingenuous at that time. In fact, his post received a relative plethora of likes (it could have been for something else in there, though).

Absence of belief is not the same as belief of absence.

Ah, details, details.

I don't know if anyone realised but what Ian captured here was a snapshot of Queenstown NZ. Malf has been growing avocados under the shelter of the twin peaks for years. Unfortunately, an ever growing herd of wild avocado eating donkeys has been decimating his plantation, leaving him with only two producing trees. When this particularly cheeky little donkey came for another quick "bite to eat", Malf sadly lost it.

"Haven't you greedy donkeys had enough of my avocados ?" Malf enquired exasperatedly....

"Neigh!" the donkey replied.

Malf was so angry, he forgot that donkeys can't actually talk and began beating it as hard as he could with his French bread lunch batten.

I know you're joking, Tim, but as a resident of New Zealand I feel obliged to point out that Queensland is in Australia. New Zealand does have a Queenstown complete with snow-capped peaks (it is a ski resort in winter) but that is South Island and Malf and his Avocados live in the sub-tropical climate of the North Island.
I do not make any clear distinction between mind and God. God is what mind becomes when it has passed beyond the scale of our comprehension.

Damn it, Dave, I meant Queenstown. Obviously I don't know where Malf lives. I've ruined my silly joke !! It also refuses to allow me to alter it. Edit done it thanks.
