Percentage of UK students getting first-class degrees increases by 80% in 7 years

An astonishing achievement, particularly as the percentage going to university also increased from 45.8% to 49.8% in the first six years of that period. Evidently we are becoming a nation of geniuses. (What I can't work out is why, despite so many more geniuses in the workforce and ever more sophisticated technology, no commercial organisation in the UK seems capable of carrying the simplest administrative task without screwing it up, often several times in a row.)
