On Being a Remote Viewing Student with Paul H. Smith

Paul H. Smith, PhD, has served twice as president of the International Remote Viewing Association an organization of which he is a founder. A former Army intelligence officer, he served for seven years as part of the military’s top-secret remote viewing program. He is author of Reading the Enemy’s Mind and The Essential Guide to Remote Viewing. He currently serves as president and chief trainer for Remote Viewing Instructional Services. His website is https://rviewer.com/.

Here he discusses a variety of issues faced by students of his remote viewing classes. One concern is dealing with criticisms and objections that come from family and friends. As with most other skills, professional practice requires a level of commitment and discipline that goes far beyond establishing the validity of the phenomena. As remote viewing is an imperfect art, learning to deal with failures is very important.

Parapsychology in Russia with Loyd Auerbach

Loyd Auerbach, MS, received his masters' degree in parapsychology from John F. Kennedy University. He is author of Mind Over Matter; ESP, Hauntings, and Poltergeists: A Parapsychologist's Handbook; Reincarnation, Channeling, and Possession; Psychic Dreaming; A Paranormal Casebook; and Ghost Hunting: How to Investigate the Paranormal. He is co-author (with Ed May, Joseph McMoneagle, and Victor Rubel) of ESP Wars: East and West. He is the Director of the Office of Paranormal Investigations. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Rhine Research Center.

Here he points out that, during the Soviet era, parapsychological research was conducted in some forty different institutes -- greatly exceeding the activity in the United States. The Soviet military program entailed more than 100 remote viewers. Remote viewers were also actively used by law enforcement agencies and by the KGB. High profile psychics were also employed to shield prominent figures, such as premier Gorbachev, from enemy psychic attack. Since the fall of the USSR, this activity has been greatly reduced.

Two more psi-related interviews:

Remote Viewing and Mormon Metaphysics with Paul H. Smith

Here he shares his unique perspective as a committed member of the LDS church as well as a teacher of remote viewing. He points out that there has been very little conflict between these two roles. Mormon metaphysics has a strong materialist component. Additionally, Mormon doctrine is that the soul extends infinitely throughout all time. Mormons do not accept reincarnation. However, they believe we will be resurrected in an immortal physical body.

Consciousness-Related Anomalies at Princeton with Brenda Dunne

Brenda Dunne served for 28 years as laboratory manager of the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) program. With Robert G. Jahn, she is coauthor of Margins of Reality: The Role of Consciousness in the Physical World, Consciousness and the Source of Reality: The PEAR Odyssey, Quirks of the Quantum Mind, and Molecular Memories. She also served as coeditor of Filters and Reflections: Perspectives on Reality and Being and Biology: Is Consciousness the Life-Force. She currently serves as president of the International Consciousness Research Lab (ICRL). Her website is http://icrl.org/.

Here she describes the history and scope of the research program at Princeton University initiated by the dean of the School of Engineering, Robert G. Jahn. The program focused primarily on the effects of human intention upon quantum mechanical random event generators. It also included studies of remote perception, as well as efforts to develop a theoretical understanding of their anomalous findings. She particularly focuses on the interpersonal dynamics and atmosphere at the laboratory.

I found this interview very interesting. Brenda Dunne was the manager of the PEAR lab at Princeton for the full 28 years of its existence.

Here are two more parapsychology-oriented interviews, including a follow-up with with Brenda Dunne. In the earlier interview it was obvious there was a lot more she wanted to say.

Inside the PEAR Lab with Brenda Dunne

Brenda Dunne served for 28 years as laboratory manager of the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) program. With Robert G. Jahn, she is coauthor of Margins of Reality: The Role of Consciousness in the Physical World, Consciousness and the Source of Reality: The PEAR Odyssey, Quirks of the Quantum Mind, and Molecular Memories. She currently serves as president of the International Consciousness Research Lab (ICRL). Her website is http://icrl.org/.

Here she describes details of the laboratory operations at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research program. A range of devices were studied. Differential effects were observed between male and female operators. Operators generally reported the greatest successes occurred when they were able to enter into a state of "resonance" with the devices. She also describes the academic politics at Princeton limiting the laboratory's activities, as well as how the lab dealt with critical detractors.

Dreams and Psychic Dreams with Loyd Auerbach

Here he points out that disagreement still exists among researchers as to whether or not dreams are meaningful. Psychic dreams typically feel different than other dreams. They are frequently described as "more real than real". Nuances concerning precognitive dreams are presented. Such dreams can be life-changing -- usually, but not always, in positive ways. The discussion focuses on the relationship between dream states, hypnotic states, and meditative states -- leading to questions about the nature of consciousness itself.

And here is the third episode of the trilogy:

Your Quantum Mind with Brenda Dunne

Here she suggests that the complementarity and uncertainty principles of quantum physics can be thought of as metaphors for the operation of the human mind. The term "metaphor" should not be thought of as trivial -- as metaphors are always necessary when endeavoring to describe direct internal experience. All of the observations and thoughts that created quantum physics as we know it today are, in fact, products of the human psyche. The discussion focuses additionally on the experimenter effect in parapsychology.

Here he shares a number of personal stories involving telepathy. They include difficulties in romantic relationships as well as experiences working in a military prison. He also shares several experiences of ostensible telepathic communications with the deceased, an ability he has had since childhood. He expresses his belief that, given a certain level of spiritual protection, communication with the deceased is easier than with the living -- as they no longer are trying to hide aspects of themselves.

Becoming a Professional Remote Viewer with Lori Williams

Lori Williams is author of Monitoring: A Guide for Remote Viewing and Professional Intuitive Teams and also Boundless: Your How-To Guide To Practical Remote Viewing. She is founder and president of Intuitive Specialists. She is very active as a trainer of remote viewers.

Here she maintains that one need not have a background in psychic functioning to learn to remote view at a professional level. In fact, there are excellent remote viewers who maintain that they are not at all "psychic". She describes her own background as a Christian fundamentalist who once believed that psychic functioning was diabolic. She also describes different applied projects that are working with professional remote viewers.

Hypnosis and Psychic Functioning with Lori Williams

Lori Williams is author of Monitoring: A Guide for Remote Viewing and Professional Intuitive Teams and also Boundless: Your How-To Guide To Practical Remote Viewing. She is founder and president of Intuitive Specialists. She is very active as a trainer of remote viewers.

Here she points out that there is a very close relationship between hypnosis and psychic functioning. She describes various hypnotic instructions that can be applied to remote viewing tasks. She also notes that hypnotic instructions are implicit, although typically not explicit, in various remote viewing protocols. She also provides many examples from her own practice of the enormous power that hypnotic suggestions can have.
