Actually, that wouldn't be a bad design for a psi experiment - tell the participants they're going to see photons, but that it might seem more like a sensation than seeing something - meaning the subjects would have a strong expectation of something happening, probably more so than if they knew it was a psi experiment. (Would that be considered ethical?)
