Interesting guy. I've watched a couple of his videos recently. My first reaction was discomfort about his descriptions of the nature of the self but that discomfort took me to questions I ought to be asking myself and a reassessment of my own beliefs on the nature of the self. I'll watch this one with interest.

I agree. I watch most of his videos on his YouTube channel. Like a moth to a flame I used to find myself drawn to him without knowing why, but a couple of his videos have struck a chord, like this one did. Another one I posted here really meant a lot to me, because I had a similar experience to the one he talked about. For me it was/is something deep.

Occasionally I feel that he’s answering questions that I don’t think any living person really has the answer to, and I feel he’s on shaky ground, but it’s only occasionally.

Ok - so I've now watched this video and, after a difficult start, he reached the point of his advice which applies to my life every bit as much as it does to the woman asking the question.

It's funny. I've not watched any, but I recall seeing at least one posted previously. I must have strange reactions, I find the glaring stark plainness of the background uninviting, and the placing of the flowers a surreal and tacit acknowledgement - "yes, we know the background is crap, so here's some flowers to distract you".

Actually, I know in part one direct association which it brings to mind. There was (or maybe still is) a popular review and testing website for digital cameras, and each camera was used to take a number of still images of a similar style, supposedly to demonstrate the camera's ability to capture skin tones as well as bright colours. A dummy rather than a real person was used for some of the shots, like something from an episode of Dr Who where shop mannequins came to life.

I still can't bring myself to click 'play'. Wink

Don’t worry Typoz. Some are just not ready for enlightenment.  LOL

My sceptical side is always close by, but there is often something that can be learned from his videos. I used to be more cynical and question the ever present flowers and doubt the sincerity as I never read any criticism of him anywhere. I still feel those inner hardwired strings pulling against.

The video that tipped the balance was this one, it really hit the spot.

Thanks Stan Wink. Actually, I may just listen to the audio, which is something I often do with various videos, regardless of how the video looks.

In fact I reckon you’d be way ahead of me.

I’m not sure about this, but although that video was special for me, I suspect that it’s a case of horses for courses where Rupert’s videos are concerned.

Not so. I'm just good at bluffing.

Maybe so.

I found that he ruffles my complacency which can be quite uncomfortable so my first reaction was to dismiss. However, (and this was a few weeks back when I listened to an entirely different talk) his way of looking at things seems to seep in to my subconscious and nag at the back of my mind. So I kept returning to ask myself why I feel so adamant to dismiss. Eventually my mind opened a little more and aspects of spirituality are up for questioning once more.
