Cultural anthropologist Satumaarit Myllyniemi is writing a doctoral thesis about supernatural experiences during the Russo-Finnish wars in the second world war. Based on her comments she seems to be a materialist, but the accounts themselves are interesting. Some of the cases are crisis apparitions and there are also premonitions of death etc. In one case the Finnish soldiers opened fire on Russian soldier who just kept walking like nothing happened. They shot him at close range with submachine guns and sniper rifles. Then the lieutenant ordered to cease fire and said that "we are probably dealing with higher forces here".

Tällaisia olivat talvi- ja jatkosodan yliluonnolliset kokemukset: Outo venäläissotilas ei kaatunut, vaikka kuinka tulitettiin

I can't see why a materialist would want pursue this topic to that level given they attribute it to psychopathology, illusion or fraud. So why are you here cavorting with the unenlightened?

Wow, fanciest term yet for “trolling people that are actually interested in the topic”. Wink
I do wonder what the "rational" explanation for that Russian ghost soldier case would be. I can only assume it would be something like "oh their aim was so bad it made them delusional."

The "rational" explanations in the comments section were hallucination and bulletproof vest.

Really? A bulletproof vest won’t make bullets hitting you painless, n/m a whole flurry of them.

They're also more accurately characterized as "bullet resistant"
