Why the Majestic 12 “1st Annual Report” is a Hoax

Quote:Also, there’s this from me: “…Fort Detrick did not receive that title until 1956: from 1943 until 1955 the installation was designated Camp Detrick, having previously been known as Detrick Field. This has led some commentators to suggest that even though the 1st Annual Report does not refer to any events that post-date 1951, the document must, therefore, be of 1956, or post-1956, vintage. This scenario, however, falls apart for one, specific reason. Of those listed as members of the Majestic 12 Special Panel, one is General Hoyt S. Vandenberg. Vandenberg died in 1954. Therefore, he could not possibly have been a member of such a Panel in 1956, two years after his death.”

Clearly, and whether you buy into the Russian theory or not, the fact is that the 1st Annual Report is not a genuine document. All of the available evidence is stacked solidly against it.
Interesting. Digging around that site under the Majestic 12 category, I found this primer article which was also helpful for context:

The Origins of Majestic 12?

Quoting from the introduction and conclusion respectively:
Quote:One of the biggest problems surrounding the famous Roswell event of July 1947 is the almost complete lack of documentation to support the claims that anything (UFO, balloon, V2 rocket, or something else) crashed or landed in the wilds of New Mexico on that long-gone day. In 1987, however, the situation changed drastically. It was in that year that UFO investigator Timothy Good’s best-selling book, Above Top Secret, was published; one of the most controversial aspects of which was the discussion of a document that allegedly originated with a classified research and development group established by the U.S. Government in 1947 to deal with the incident at Roswell and known variously as Majestic 12 or MJ12.
Quote:The final word on Majestic 12 I will leave to Barker: “Intel had one goal and it worked perfectly: the plan was to give the space alien writers something to believe in and use to support their theories and to give their opponents something to fight against. So, while both are fighting [for] years and spending money researching over if these are real [Majestic 12] files, no-one is looking where they should be looking: the human experiments. A wonderful plan that still works today.”
