Scientific American published an essay arguing against panpsychism on the basis of "spacetime emergence":
Spacetime Emergence, Panpsychism and the Nature of Consciousness

Bernardo Kastrup responded:
Idealism and spacetime emergence
At first read, the first essay is confusing. It would seem the problems for experience would arise for all causation if space/time is emergent from some mathematical structure?

Of course for space/time to "emerge", as in come out of or arise from, suggests at least time if not space, or so it seems to me? It may be some kind of "hyper time" but there is change and therefor time?
