This video is very interesting to me in that in the first few minutes Chomsky relates how often we had come very close to blowing ourselves out of existence, only to be saved at the last minute by what appears to be chance.

Do you think this luck was simply luck?

Interesting that he also makes a comment @ 19:25 about the earth being 2-3 degrees warmer than it is now, some millions of years ago? This surprised me, as I thought global warming was man made?

I guess global warming can and has occurred for many reasons. Some we can affect and some we can’t. We can’t prevent volcanoes from erupting but perhaps with the strategic use of nuclear fission we can bring it on? Smile

Have you chosen a side in the CAGW debate? I haven’t, I really don’t even understand the question. Of course I see the ice decreasing etc, but Chomsky has thrown a spanner in that too. I can see and understand the plastic problem, maybe that will kill us before warming does?

I can’t say I have to be honest. Though I can’t see any harm in doing the things we’re recommended to do if it’s true. Like many of these topics two sets of experts arguing doesn’t make it any clearer for me.
