For once, I think a Bayesian analysis is appropriate.
Belgium, Russia and Croatia have never won the World Cup, so we must estimate the likelihood of their winning as zero.
Both Britain and France have won in the past, once each. But the probability of winning conditional on having reached the semi-finals is 50% for England, and only 20% for France.
The figures don't add up to 100%, but that's Bayesian analysis for you.

I voted for England out of sympathy with this board's members, but my gut was telling me Belgium. We'll see.

I have to say that if they did win, watching the tv or listening to the radio would become unbearable for at least a month.
As a Scot, it is assumed by many that I would rather slash my own eyeballs than support England. Not at all, I think that many of the tweets I see are pathetic. We are ALL capable of bad behaviour, let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Speak for yourself Stan, I would rather slash out my own eyeballs than support England
I do think France and Belgium look like good bets. However, England might actually have luck on their side this tournament. And then we will never ever ever ever ever ever hear the end of it!

That young Irishman is praying with the same fervour as Malf and Steve001 are praying that Parnia doesn't get any hits.
