It seems to me what happens is you'll see a little message in the Reply text box when you quote someone.

It will ask you if you want to insert the quotes at that moment or discard. It's actually a nice feature as it allows one to quote multiple people with ease. Just takes a bit of getting used to as I also thought it wasn't working. :-)

Were you able to convince Alex to complete a transfer?

Publicly he said he was up for it, so I wrote to him privately but he hasn't responded. I might ping him publicly again to see whether he got my PM.

Yeah... But he was also saying that "it might be a pain", which is what worries me since he has been acting erratically.

Having two forums with the same purview seems unnecessary, along with the fact that a lot of people want a parapsychology/philosophy focused space?

I'm happy to contribute something to maintain both spaces as I think it will serve the community well to have both?

I've thoughts on a variety of things like Transhumanism, New Atheism's political effects, etc. that wouldn't fit anywhere but Other Stuff...and it's weird to have all our political threads in the same space as our fave cat videos.  Smile
Just an idea, Sci. If you could think up of a category name for a subforum that could include those sorts of topics, that could be considered.

I think the question of political discussions is more about straight political discussions, or completely non-psi-related world current events, or conspiracy theories (not CTs in general necessarily) that are really specifically tied to a current sociopolitical context - the question being do we create a space for this or not, and if so where. The door isn't shut on political discussions or CTs (especially the latter) but we need time to think about this, and ask people in the meantime to show some restraint, like we all know they can if they really try hard. Smile

I think politics, conspiracy theories, and any controversial subject, is relevant in a psi forum because it touches on how people debate and why we believe what we believe. By looking outside psi we might learn something about the debate over psi. That is why I never objected to Alex widening his subject matter beyond psi.

I guess I just don't see the point of two forums that oversee the same purview, especially when the purpose of Chuck's forum is openness to discussions where people don't have to worry about excessive moderation?

There are so many places to talk about politics and so very few to really delve into the original Skeptiko content that drew so many people from so many political positions. I can see why it's interesting to then shift into politics because unlike many places you're getting more range, but I think moderating a parapsychology forum and a political forum result in two different sets of responsibilities.

I kind of agree with Jim on this one. It is hard to separate ideas surrounding the possibility of a matrix type control system, abductions, MILAB, vampiric non-physical entities, cryptids, UFOS, channeling info/disinfo, etc. Unfortunately subjects like pizza-gate have a possible connection with other organized systems of abuse or trauma induction, which could neatly circle back to a matrix-type controls system bent on feeding off of intensified human expressions. I'm sure lots of members here would love to post about the possibility of bodhisattvas reincarnating to bring about positive change. While the exact opposite case of psychopathic incarnations of "evil" rabble-rousers hell bent on ratcheting up suffering and fomenting trauma induction systems is almost certainly just as true. Seems to me if you don't want to include subjects like this in fear of offending new members, then you are just whistling past the grave yard.

True. In any case, I've pinged him in the "missing forums..." thread.
The forums are online again and will be there until Aug 21st.

I've just realized that those two forums combined have 50K+ messages which makes it ~70% of the whole board!
