In the process of collecting and preserving Dutch parapsychological and spiritualistic archival materials, Wim Kramer and his colleagues encountered several original art paintings and drawings from the early 20th century. This triggered a serious interest in the origins, the mediumistic artist and the artistic quality of these works. In 2013 they started a preliminary study on these art paintings and drawings. In his Public Parapsychology talk, Wim will present a first impression of these works with a focus on the art drawings made by the, now forgotten, Dutch medium Mr. J.H. Verwaal and others. Pictorial Messages from the Afterlife: A Fascinating Look at Early 20th century Dutch Mediumistic Art Paintings Wim H. Kramer obtained his degree in clinical and experimental psychology at Utrecht University, the Netherlands.

Spooks and spoofs: psychologists and psychical research in the inter-war years
https://royalsociety.org/science-events-...nd-spoofs/

A Royal Society History of Science lecture from 2012 by Elizabeth Valentine, about the academic psychologists who collaborated with Harry Price in the 1920s and 1930s.

The questions after the lecture are also interesting, including the one from the sceptic who characterises an interest in psychical research as a mental disorder, along with other "ostensively non-viable propositions" which appeal to people's "predelictions".

The first presentation in a month-long forum in 2016 on physical mediumship that took place in the PF Lyceum Academy on WizIQ.com. The Forum included a learning space with articles, the PowerPoint presentations of the speakers, and the recordings of the four lectures that made up the specific content of the event. Private discussion forums were also held for all four of the live lectures. The first of these, Dr. Carlos S. Alvarado's Physical Mediumship: A Brief Historical View was presented on October 15th, 2016. Dr. Alvarado is a Research Fellow at the Parapsychology Foundation. The session was moderated by PF Research Fellow Dr. Nancy L. Zingrone. Two more lectures will be posted soon and their links included here.

In 2005 the Parapsychology Foundation held an international conference in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA called "The Study of Mediumship: International Perspectives." The conference took place over two days at the end of January and included an international group of speakers and a large audience of scientists and mediums. Part 1 is a talk given by then PF staff member (now PF Research Fellow) Dr. Carlos S. Alvarado and covers the history of mediumship research up to that point. The Question and Answer period was also filmed. An introduction to Mrs. Eileen Coly, then President of the Parapsychology Foundation, was given her daughter, Lisette Coly, who is now President, followed by an introduction to the conference by Ms. Coly, and Dr. Alvarado's presentation.
