Henry, I am an academic physician specializing in Internal Medicine, now retired. On a number of the topics you mention, I have extensive first-hand knowledge and experience, so I am able to evaluate whether your arguments on those subjects are valid, from the point of view of someone with expertise rather than from ignorance.

This is the kind of arrogant bluster that Madam thinks she can get away with.

How long has Linda the academic physician been retired now ? She's possibly been on message boards for 15 years ...was she retired then ? Read the thoughts of this academic physician on retirement.

Something not right IMHO with Linda as the retired academic physician.

Well, if she was that easy to destroy in an argument, he needn't have wussed out.

I want to remind Linda and Malf that Bauer has never promised to engage in a dialogue after his interview. What he promised is to give a detailed, sourced, deep interview on his current area of expertise - Science and Technology Studies.

And he did it wonderfully - with, dare I say, my active participation. We both did our best and spent several weeks composing this dialogue. And the result worth it.

And, let me remind you, Bauer agreed to give this highly complex interview to a new and (yet) small forum. To the forum where some members demanded him to be no-platformed. To the forum where his interview was delegated to the subsection which does not even mention either "science" or "interview" in its name. To the forum where many of his positions can only be discussed in the closed part in the forum.

I do not complain about latter two points - it was our communal decision that allowed us to reach a compromise and prevented a major comminity-disrupting conflict. And Bauer accepts this decision, too. What I meant that despite these restrictions he still put an immense effort into his interview, as well as I did. He is as tolerant as he is exceptionally knowledgable about modern science and its problems.

Insulting him behind his back is unethical. Especially after the work he performed for us all here.

As for ridiculous point of "book-selling efforts"... Bauer's book are complex intellectual works on highly unpopular subjects (who in academia would like to be reminded about his or her fallibility)? His book sales were doomed to be small, without any decent, let alone high, profits from them; and he certainly understood it when he wrote his books. Yet he wrote them still - because he wanted to tell something important to the few who will read them. Something he thinks is true and crucial.

For the same reason he, along others, founded the Society for the Scientific Exploration and have been one of its leaders for decades. For the same reason he put his reputation under constant attacks from the ones who consider many of his positions as a horrid blasphemy which deserves to be silenced.

He has done a lot, here and elsewhere. He had a full right to choose whom he wants to debate.

So, Malf, Linda... If you want to engage him, visit his blog - which is, BTW, a treasury of science-related information since Bauer prefers to back all his claims with relevant sources - and ask him the questions you want there.

Wussed out ? Really ? Play ground talk, Malf.

I've got no dog in this "fight" but as a member of the forum I'm pissed off with seeing Linda's bullshit, hearing about her expertise in everything ! And what makes it worse is that she does everything she can to discredit the legitimate expertise of others. (not me BTW I've never claimed to be an expert)

I didn't see any sources which supported his version of the "science court". That's what I asked for from him. As Chris pointed out, the sources he provided were in reference to a different kind of science court, of a type which most experts are willing to engage in and do, since it seems that the original idea has led to the formation of advisory committees (http://psiencequest.net/forums/thread-59...l#pid11138).

Bauer is a member here. None of this is behind his back. There is no barrier to him addressing the criticisms which were raised in this part of the forum.

I agree. I may have misinterpreted something you said, as I had the impression that he was prepared to engage in discussion.

If he thinks he has something valid to say, his target audience should be experts, rather than non-experts, though.

I've looked at his blog. As I said way back when his participation was discussed, I am unable to find him credible when I can see that he gets things quite wrong. I also see that people have brought information to his attention, in the comments, in attempts to show him where he has been mistaken (e.g. https://scimedskeptic.wordpress.com/2013...-and-asia/). His responses don't inspire confidence in the process.

All I can say is that Vortex himself said he hoped there would be a vigorous debate about the matters discussed in the interview. But I think it's clear that Henry Bauer isn't interested in debating them here. That's a decision for him, of course.

Of course, there's nothing to stop other people debating the matters discussed in the interview.
