"Cambridge University researchers were able to train sheep to identify the faces of actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Emma Watson, former US President Barack Obama and BBC newsreader Fiona Bruce."

I didn't think this was scientifically interesting. I just liked the picture.

I heard about this on the radio. It seemed rather Orwellian. Those sheep who gaze adoringly at the face of big brother are rewarded. (no disrespect  intended towards any actual persons here).

Why not make it the president?
It can hardly be worse than the status quo.... Tongue In Cheek

Chris

I only glanced at the paper, which is here:
http://rsos.royalsocietypublishing.org/c.../11/171228

But I can't help wondering how this paper would have been received if it had been reporting a psi study. For example, the faces were matched for race, and the paper says they were matched for brightness. But I don't think the faces in that picture are equally bright.

It is maybe a bit spooky that this study on perception in sheep was published on the first anniversary of the choice made last year by the population of the USA.

Many great memes could be made from this picture...
Too bad this wasn't released before Obama's elections.
